Pedophile Paradise

The title above was used to describe Holy Cross School, usually while looking around at disgust. It was used both in front of parents and in front of teachers on more than one occasion.

Now, I can think of a bit of “shock value” to such a charge, but I also think it totally irresponsible of a person to make such a statement. If true, then the place should be shut down immediately. It was not used in the context of what should or should not be done, but more of a general indictment of the school.

Granted that it might be a call to action if there actually was real issues to address, but does anybody think the use of such terms by a elementary school principal is ever appropriate?

I don’t know in what context this statement was made, but from what say here it appears that it was made for shock value and nothing else. Sometimes if people have not thoroughly thought out their position they make statements such as these out of pure frustration. It is totally irresponsible, and muddies any real progress that might be made on an issue.

Far be it from me to support this principal - believe me, but in this case she is right. Is she addressing the issues toward safety? I don't see that she is. When the Emergency Procedures Plan was in its development phase a DE Dept of Public Safety officer spent quite a bit of time at Holy Cross assessing safety issues. He was not quite so tacky about naming it but brought up many ways that Holy Cross needed to improve in this area. Some issues have been addressed, but many have not and many of those issues addressed have slowly but surely been dropped.

She seems to be mostly concerned about access to the school by parents than by others. How has she addressed these concerns?

What were some of the most important safety issues?

I am convinced, however, that the more parents that are in and around the shcool, the more secure it is. As long as there is some sort of badging system (which they had) I fail to see the "danger" from the parents. I would still like to know how many parents did anything to kids within a school for the past 5 years. We've had other problems, maybe, but not from parents.
