Another One Bites the Dust....

Or escaped the funny farm. One of our best lower grade teachers has exited, stage left, to the public school system...and that might not be the last one, either. Check back later in the week.

And on another issue....how ridiculous was it to have a "meet the new teachers" day from 1 to 3? I guess they don't want any working people coming by. Jeez...at least have it so some could possibly stop by during lunch.

But that would be encouraging more people to stop by the school....must not have that. Make the appearance you are doing something, but make it an empty gesture.

I'll post the full list of those who have left sometime over the weekend....it will be interesting to see the reasons that Jacono gives. One "reason" is "left for public school system"....no, that is where they went, not WHY they left.

UPDATE: I checked around a few websites, and Mrs. S., who was to be a first grade teacher this year, will now grace the halls of Lake Forest North Elementary school. Goodluck, and Godspeed.

JUST WONDERING IF IT HAS OCCURED TO ANYONE THAT JUST MAYBE A PERSON LEAVES HCS FOR A HIGHER PAYING SALARY. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT LAKE FOREST TEACHERS, THOUGH NOT ANYWHERE NEAR THE HIGHEST PAID IN THE STATE, MAKE AT A MINIMUM AT LEAST $10,000 MORE A YEAR. PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHING POSITIONS ABOVE THE CANAL ARE A SIGNIFICANT SALARY INCREASE OF$15,000 TO $25,000. JACONO IS NOT THE REASON EVERYONE LEAVES!

I am sure money never hurts the decision to leave, but most people who go to work at a Catholic school don't usually do it for the money. I also think that sicknesses or illnesses played a part in some of the other ones, as well...but having talked to more than a few of them, Jacono was at least a part of their decision to get out of Holy Cross.

You might also to be able to make the case the school is better off without this or that teacher. That isn't the point, as much as it was the way they were discarded.

There is a bright side. Think of the salary savings the school will have by bringing in a lot of new teachers.

"That's not the point." This oft-mentioned refrain begs the question: "Where's the beef?" What is your point quiz? What do you hope to accomplish?

Tellitlikeitis,
You clearly have not asked any of the departing teachers about their circumstances. And the use of caps is considered rude on the internet.

I hate to see our school's good name dragged through the mud like this. Our family is relatively new and we are very pleased with Holy Cross. We enrolled our children so that they would grow and learn in a Christian environment. We have done so at great expense and sacrifice hoping that they would be in a caring and moral environment. I am embarassed by what I've read online from other parents. I understand that people have some grievances but is this forum really a solution? How does this help anyone other than the few who are "venting"? I fully support our right to free speech, but shouldn't we parents be responsible in our speech? Shouldn't we Christians behave in a way that reflects grace, forgiveness and kindness? Perhaps if you were to approach Mrs. Jacono with some degree of respect and kidness you would get some in return. I hope and pray for a successful school year for our school.

This crossed my mind also.

To the relatively new parent, parents have tried all year to talk to her. While I agree that this may not be the best way to handle grievances, it's a last ditch effort by some to show her what she is doing. I know parents that have been to her, Father, and the diocese or all three. Some of the parents have been at HCS for years and they never complained before now.

To the "dragged through the mud" poster...you don't need to cut and paste your comment on each of the postings. We get it.

I don't beleive that salary is the main factor for most of the departing teachers, just as J. is not the only factor. Public schools with higher salaries were there last year and the year before. When you combine the joy of J. with the promise of a higher salary. The decison must be easy. Look for more teachers to hit the road next year.
