WWJD?

One of the reasons that people choose Holy Cross is for the religious aspect. I'm not talking about the religon classes, but the way in which we try to get people to live the life, and set good examples.

There is a program called "prayer buddies" where older kids pair up with the kids in the younger grades. A good program, and one that I think reinforces good behavior on BOTH the older and younger kids. This year, the young children gave their 8th grade partners a "WWJD" bracelet.

Apparently some of the 8th graders wore the bracelet to school, as has been the custom and tradition of the school for years...and promptly were punished by losing their final "tag" day by Denise. I am sure there will be a defender or two who will quote chapter and verse of the holy book of rules and regulations, but somehow a Catholic school punishing kids for wearing a What Would Jesus Do bracelet seems that someone is missing the point.

Heard that same story from a middle school parent.

Is it true that Mrs. Jacono "punished" two eighth graders for some incident in the cafeteria by disallowing them to participate in the graduation mass?

I had not heard that, but I would need to hear more before I passed judgement on that.

I do not know the details but I am going to make a pretty good guess about the WWJD incident. I am guessing that this move was yet another hateful vindictive incident to try to hurt a teacher on Jacono's "list" of teachers that she continues to harrass.

I don't believe the incident with the exclusion of one young man from ceremonies had to do with a teacher. It seems that it was an act against a student who had discipline problems all year. Our principal appears to be of the mind that many small problems equals one giant one or at least she holds past problems against the kids. I was not a witness but was told that the infraction was simply being too loud.

Sounds like two incidents. One with the students not getting a tag day because of the bracelets and the student who couldn't attend graduation because of his behavior.

Yeah...things get a bit confused at times.

One story told in defense I heard was that the kids were "playing" with their bracelets. I don't buy that, as it doesn't make sense. One kid loses a tag day for playing with a bracelet, the rest of the kids stop playing with it.

Not sure I even buy the vindictive bit against a teacher. A power trip, of course, but one against the kids -and what better way for the kids to remember their HC then by losing their final tag day?

Not that most of the kids who lost it paid that much attention to it, anyway.

Disallowing students to participate in the graduation mass? Are you kidding? Who put that witch above the forgiveness of Jesus Christ and his Father, our God, whom we all follow? I am outraged. Remember the student who wasn't allowed to graduate from high school due to a shoes issues a year or so ago? Maybe if stories like this were read in the newspaper, something would have to happen.

Great comment, again. Never thought of it that way, but forbidding someone from attending Mass at a Catholic school? I think even prisoners are allowed that.

Reminds me of a story from last year.

Seems that she had gotten into the habit of requiring the kids to stand up when she walked into the room. Doesn't sound too bad, because it rings faint bells from those of us who attended Catholic school - except that was for members of RELIGIOUS orders, not lay staff.

To her credit, when confronted by it she quietly stopped doing it, but it does go to show a certain personality, doesn't it?

you have to be kidding me right? does the woman have no shame?

Of course she doesn't have any shame! Some people want to be the center of attention all the time.
